How long have you been in business?
TaxResources has been providing Tax Audit Defence and membership services since 1988.

How do you keep my information private?
As a member of Canada TaxResources, your name, address, and any other personal information will not be disclosed or sold to anyone else. Only Canada TaxResources’ Audit and Technical staff will have access to your tax information.

What’s your connection with Intuit and TurboTax®?
Canada TaxResources partners with Intuit to provide Audit Defence for users of TurboTax® software.

What happens when I receive a notice of review or audit notice?
As soon as you receive a notice, call the phone number provided on your Canada TaxResources membership agreement. DO NOT call the CRA or Provincial Taxing Authority. You must use Canada TaxResources as YOUR FIRST contact with the CRA or Provincial Taxing Authority. When you have provided the notice and the tax return to our Audit Coordinator, the appropriate qualified representative will be assigned to you.

Does Audit Defence include my provincial tax return?
Yes, your provincial tax return is included in your membership except for the Province of Quebec.

Are pre–assessment reviews included in Audit Defence?
Yes, Audit Defence includes both pre and post–assessment reviews.

Are field audits included in Audit Defence?
Audit Defence includes field audits through the restricted examination of books, but does not include detailed financial audits.

Is my self–employed income included?
Yes, all income reported on your individual tax return is included in your membership.

I also file a separate business return. Is it included?
Audit Defence for your business must be purchased separately from your individual return. Audit Defence for your business is available for purchase on this website or through the TurboTax® application you use to prepare your return.

Is Audit Defence available for residents of the Province of Quebec?
Sorry. Audit Defence is not currently available for residents of the Province of Quebec.

Will you be offering your memberships every year?
Yes. Canada TaxResources plans to continue our membership program.

What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel your Audit Defence Membership for any reason within 30 days of purchase.

Do you review my tax return before you accept my membership?
We do not review your tax return prior to the acceptance of the membership.

Is Tax Audit Defence for such a nominal cost too good to be true?
We agree that it may seem too good to be true, but it is not. We have been successfully defending taxpayers since 1988.

How long will the TurboTax® Membership Plan defend my return?
If you have an Audit Defence Membership we will defend the tax return for which you bought the membership for as long as it can be audited.

Can I purchase Audit Defence Memberships for prior years?
Yes. You can purchase individual Audit Defence Memberships for tax years back to 2008. Business memberships are available starting in tax year 2009.

What happens if I do not file my tax return on time?
The Canada TurboTax Audit Defence Membership includes all tax returns that were filed late.

Is my amended return eligible for membership?
If the original tax return was filed timely, amended returns are also included in that membership.

Wouldn’t I be better off going to a tax attorney?
Each of our representatives handles more audits in one month than most tax preparers or attorneys handle in a lifetime. You not only get personal service, but the experience that makes a difference.

I use an accountant. Can your service still help?
Our service is available only for returns self–prepared on TurboTax®.

How much does your defence service cost?
If the tax return that is being audited is covered under your membership plan, the audit defence service will not cost you anything.
